Alan Dickinson

Introduction

A researcher, educator, trainer and practicing attorney with more than 20 years’ experience, Alan is delighted to bring that experience to bear for the clients of Clarity Legal Group.

A collaborator, connector and problem-solver at his core, Alan is committed to providing clients with exceptional clarity in the face of the unfamiliar, and forging meaningful, lasting relationships with the families he is privileged to serve.  From his practice – and personal experience – Alan knows that preparing for incapacity and death is at the heart of one’s personal legacy, and part of a life well-lived.

Through education, counseling, and continuity of service and support to you and your loved ones, in addition to documents drafted with the precision you would expect, Alan finds great joy in helping families properly prepare for the future and, in so doing, providing peace of mind.

Alan also has considerable negotiation, conflict resolution and contract drafting experience, which he leverages for the benefit of the firm’s clients whenever needs arise.

Finally, having served as the lead client relations and business development executive for a statewide law practice prior to joining Clarity Legal Group, Alan possesses a passion and particular expertise concerning the business and economics of law.

Education

Alan received his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Wake Forest University in 1998, was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, and received the University’s T.K. Hearn Scholarship for Excellence in Leadership & Service.  Three years later, Alan was awarded a Juris Doctor with high honors from Duke University School of Law.  He held the position of staff editor for Law & Contemporary Problems and, following law school, served as Law Clerk to The Honorable Susan Harrell Black on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Community Service

In addition to his law practice, Alan is an active member of the North Carolina Bar Association, and has served the YMCA of the Triangle, the Council for Entrepreneurial Development, and United Church of Chapel Hill in various leadership and volunteer capacities.  He currently serves as Co-Chair of the Legal Marketing Association’s Advocacy Committee.
